• Arco da Vila
One of the medieval doors to the enclosed space surrounded by hand laid stone walls, is attributed to the architect Francisco Xavier Fabri at the request of Bishop D. Francisco Gomes de Avelar. Here you find an Italian image, in marble of S. Tomás de Aquino. Built in 1251, on the ruins of an ancient Muslim Mosque, it is a temple that presents gothic, mannerist, and baroque traits.

• Sé Catedral
Edificada em 1251 sobre as ruínas de uma antiga mesquita mulçulmana. Situa-se no largo da Sé, na Vila Adentro. É um templo que apresenta características góticas, maneiristas e barrocas.
• Castle
The castle walls integrate and close off the wall structure of the fortress. There were three walls - two of them with access to the sea: "Porta do Mar" and "Porta do Socorro" and the third leading to "Vila Adentro". After various restorations, the process that stands out the most after significant alterations was the one in 1596, due to the adjustment to artillery. In 1931 the construction of the Portuguese Brewery (Portugália), caused some structural damage to the stone walls leading to Vila-Adentro. Simultaneously it provoked a big tear in the wall, that is now a road, known as Rua do Castelo.
• Banco de Portugal
Was built around 1926, where the old vegetable market used to be. Similar to what happened to most of the branches of this bank throughout Portugal , the architect Adães Bermudes was responsible for this project. It is situated in the corner of two streets, the square of D. Francisco Gomes and Rua João Dias.
